3 Steps to Enter
1. Sign Up
Create an account at artandwriting.org/login to submit your work to the 2018 Scholastic Awards.
2. Create and Upload Your Work
The Scholastic Awards look for work that demonstrates originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision. After you have created your work, you can upload it to your Scholastic Awards Account. Once you have logged in, follow the instructions to upload all of your submissions into the system.
Every category has specific requirements so please read the Guidelines and Category Descriptions carefully. Note that you will need your educator's email address.
3. Send in the Required Forms
After uploading your work, print your submission forms and have a parent/guardian and an educator sign them. Specific Form and Submission Fee requirements and instructions can be found below. Please carefully read through the instructions as you go through the registration process.

Submission fees are $5.00 per individual submission (unlimited number allowed per teacher) and $20.00 per portfolio submission (unlimited number allowed per teacher).

Submission fees and printed forms must be received by Kendall no later than January 3, 2018 at 5:00 pm.
Students that qualify for free or reduced lunch can have their submission fees waived.
Students for whom submission fees would be a barrier to participation may request a fee waiver. Please have a parent or guardian sign the Fee Waiver Form. Include the fee waiver form when you mail your signed submission form(s) to complete your registration.
Digital Image Requirements
Artwork must be submitted as a digital file in JPG, GIF, or PNG format (PSD, BMP, PDF, RAW, or TIF files are not accepted).
Print dimensions must be at least 5” x 7” or approximately 13 x 18 centimeters, and image resolution must be 300 dpi.
3-D submissions may include up to 4 images. Please include a ruler or object for reference to indicate scale in at least one of the images.
Submissions allowing for video uploads must be .mp4, .mov, .wmv, .avi, .mpg, or .mpeg files.
Video Game submissions must be .exe, .zip, .rar, or .swf files, must also include a 250-500 word gameplay summary in the provided text editor, and a gameplay video.

Awards for art entries will be announced on the Kendall College of Art & Design website, www.kcad.edu. Please check the site at 12:00pm on January 5, 2018.
Awards for writing entries will be posted on January 19, 2018.
No alternate methods of notification will be used.
Individual entries receiving a Gold Key Award must be delivered to KCAD for the exhibition.
Please note: Due to space limitations, the following will be shown digitally:
Individual entries receiving a Silver Key Award
Individual entries receiving an Honorable Mention
Individual Writing entries receiving any award level
Art and Writing Portfolios receiving any award level
Video Game Design or Film & Animation entries receiving any award level
Please do NOT drop off these works.
The gold key award winning work will be accepted on January 22 or January 23, 2018 from 3:00 - 6:00pm.
If you are mailing your work to KCAD, it must be received by January 23, 2018 at 5:00pm.
Ceremony Date: 3/3/2018
Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Ceremony and Reception will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 3:00pm.
The Awards Ceremony is held at Fountain Street Church, 24 Fountain Street Northeast, Grand Rapids, MI 49503 at 3:00pm.
The Reception is held at Kendall College of Art & Design, 17 Fountain St. NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503 at 4:00pm.
Award winners and their families are invited to attend.
Exhibition Dates: 2/6/2018 - 3/3/2018
The exhibition of award winning work will be held at Kendall College of Art & Design from February 6, 2018 to March 3, 2018.

Wednesday - Thursday

Friday - Saturday
12:00pm to 4:00pm
Saturday, March 3, 2018 (only for the Awards Ceremony and Reception)
