I can only say good about the VB Tech, especially the Commercial Design program. While I could write a book about how beneficial this program has been to my transition into college and a career, here are just a few of its benefits that stand out to me.
Commercial Design is…
A safe space for creativity
Where students find lifelong role models
Where students are treated as adults
A program that prepares students for college through teaching and assignments
A tool to figure out if a creative job (graphic design, videography, etc.) is right for individual students
A place to create friendships with students who share the same creative passions
A place for support and growth into doing one’s best effort
Commercial Design was so fun and it really helped me get out of my comfort zone. It helped me talk to more people who were all interested in the same things I was, which was art and being creative. I loved to see all the things people came up with and it was so inspiring to be around so many creative people. I loved coming everyday. And I still use what I learned in class today. I now know how to use Adobe Photoshop, Adobe illustrator, etc. and It’s so helpful going into college already having knowledge of all the things comm art has taught me. Commercial Design has really prepared me for the future and I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to take the class and Ms. Wood.
Commercial Design was really a second home for me. A place where I can be creative, and imaginative; a place where I could let my ideas flow and manifest themselves. This program truly helped me solidify my career choice. It did such a good job of showing me what I could be doing for the rest of my life and why I would love it. Commercial Design gave me the foundation for my Graphic Design skills, something that I could have never got in an ordinary classroom. Also the creative freedom and amazing resources at hand helped me expand my imagination and skillset. This program opened up the full passion I had for creating and designing. Commercial Design is such a laid back, open, and relaxed environment; it truly works perfectly to help you strive in that classroom. Everyone is willing to help, willing to give advice and feedback. The trips and competitions we participated in helped develop real life work skills and make lifetime memories. Commercial Design is an incredibly unique program, that has the ability to improve and progress your artistic and creative capabilities.
Commercial Design was probably one of the best things that has ever happened to me. It has taught me so many things I will carry with me forever. Such as to never give up on something. The more and more you try the better it gets. Without the help of this class I wouldn't be where I am today. "Life isn't about waiting till the storm is over, its about kicking off your shoes and dancing in the rain!"
Because of you, I am lead graphic designer in my hotel, The Inn at Harbor Shores!!!! I have my own desk in the Sales and Marketing office and I'm just so blessed!! Thank you for making it possible 💜
Thanks to Commercial Design, I now work with forms of art that I had not previously known existed. I also learned how to work digital art programs, so I'm not limited to traditional sketches. Furthermore, the class helped me to open up significantly by having students from multiple different school districts in one classroom. There will never be any experience quite like VB Tech's Commercial Design program.
Attending Ms. Wood's Commercial Design class was one of the best decisions I have ever made. My two years of training have done me a favor, as they prepared me for college. As far as I know, I have more experience with Adobe software than most other people in my classes!
Whatever it is, aim higher. You can do anything as long as you work hard and tell yourself you are capable. The moment you doubt your abilities is the moment you choose to let fear overrule your true talent.
I have learned so much from Commercial Design, and I am now enrolled in Southwestern Michigan College. I have the knowledge of a third semester student at the college, and I only had 3/4 of a year with Ms.Wood at Van Buren Tech. I also made it onto the Dean's List out at Southwestern. The vast amount previous knowledge that I gained from Ms.Wood helped extremely well. I am in my second semester and going back to all the little things I learned from the class to help me achieve my goal of becoming a graphic designer.
I LOVE COMMERCIAL DESIGN! In my two years taking the program, I fell in love with graphic design. This class truly is the ideal for any student interested in both traditional and digital art. We have top Apple computers, and an amazing instructor who really knows her stuff. This class has prepared me for my plans after high school as a graphic design major at the Kendall College of Art and Design.
